Microsoft is expected to launch Windows 10 build 14383 for PC and mobile later today and the company has now made a new version of its emulator available for download.
Theis specifically aimed at developers who want to try out their apps on a particular release before it becomes available for users, thus making sure that everything is working smoothly and no bugs are experienced.
At this point, there doesn’t seem to be any breaking change in this build, but most likely, Microsoft is focusing especially on fixing bugs given the fact that we’re nearing the moment when the company will roll out the Windows 10 Anniversary Update for PC and mobile.
Just bug fixes, no new features
Since the Anniversary Update is already feature-locked, Microsoft’s main priority is refining the performance of the operating system, so it makes sense to see these builds being rolled out with mostly bug fixes and almost no new features.
The Anniversary Update is projected to launch on August 2 for all devices, but Microsoft’s Dona Sarkar said that it could take a while until everyone gets it because there are millions of devices that need to be updated. According to Microsoft’s latest figures, more than 350 million devices are currently on Windows 10 and these numbers are likely to grow by July 29 when the company ends the free upgrade offer aimed at Windows 7 and 8.1 users.
The new builds that will go out later today will most likely be offered to the fast ring only, but as we advance to the final version the slow ring should get new updates too. Of course, everyone’s expecting the RTM build of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and there are rumors that it has already been signed off, but it remains to be seen when Microsoft actually releases it to users in the Insider program.
