Facebook owned messaging app, WhatsApp constantly gets updates and new features aimed at helping the application stay among the top chat apps out there. The latest WhatsApp beta version comes with some new and exciting features.

The new update to WhatsApp brings voicemail and call back features to the application. The two features were rumored back in April, but it seems that Facebook decided to implement them now, according to Phone Radar. Version 2.16.189 comes with the option for callers to use voicemail or call back features in case the person they’ve called failed to answer the phone.

The call back feature allows users to redial the last call they’ve made, while the voicemail tool comes with the option to press the mic icon and leave a voice message. Some rumors say that WhatsApp could even get video calling, but that remains to be seen.

New features are available in WhatsApp beta version 2.16.189

The new features will be included in the latest version 2.16.189 once it starts rolling out to everyone in the Google Play Store or App Store for iOS devices. Users who wish to check out the new features in WhatsApp can join the beta testing program.

The new version also comes with a new text formatting option, monospace text. The text option can be activated by adding three accent symbols (‘) before the text. The feature could be useful for a number of people and it surely adds value to the basic text formatting options in WhatsApp, like bold, italic and strikethrough.

Just recently, WhatsApp was rumored to come with music sharing, mentions, public groups and larger emojis on the iOS version of the app. The new music sharing option would allow users to see album art for shared music files or even the track icon. WhatsApp was also said to introduce a new public groups feature that would allow anyone to join group chats with specific links received from group admins.
