Starbucks has just released the official client for Windows phones after such a long and painful wait, so users whose devices are running Windows 10 Mobile can download it right now from the store.

That’s right, the app only works on Windows 10 Mobile devices, so if you’re still on Windows Phone, and there’s a big chance that you are, given the fact that more than 70 percent of phones in this ecosystem are still running 8.1, you won’t be able to give it a try.

Starbucks arrives on Windows 10 Mobile with support only for phones, so it’s not universal and doesn’t work on PCs. Truth be told, it makes more sense to be available on mobile devices than on desktop computers because it comes with features that allow users to pay with their phones for drinks, locate the nearest stores, and leave digital tips from within the app.

The app, however, isn’t globally available, but only for users in the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada, and allows users to track stars, redeem rewards, and send Starbucks eGifts to friends. It also provides access to your Starbucks card and lets you check the balance, review transaction history, and transfer balances between multiple cards.

The app seems to be working just fine on the latest preview builds of Windows 10 Mobile and should offer full support for the Anniversary Update launching soon, but expect more updates to be released in the coming weeks to improve performance based on user feedback.
