Snapchat has been undergoing some changes lately, with the introduction of ads between stories and a new look for Stories and Discover section. Now, it seems that the company is interested in expanding in a new direction and preparing the launch of an online magazine, Real Life.

Snapchat seems to be set on a clear path towards expansion and improvement, as the company announced today that it will be launching a digital magazine about technology, called Real Life. It makes perfect sense considering that users view more videos per day inside Snapchat, than on other social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

The company intends to bring in more revenue, but instead of just limiting itself to ads, it wants to give something back to users, namely original content on technology. Real Life magazine will publish essays, arguments and narratives about living with technology.

We must appreciate Snapchat’s initiative to bring something fresh to the world and avoid common subjects like gossip or gadget reviews. But, it will be interesting to see how Snapchat will handle the whole ‘living with technology’ idea, since it doesn’t really offer a clear perspective on the writing style.

Real Life magazine will launch on June 27

Real Life isn’t the first attempt that Snapchat makes at providing users with original content. Back in 2015 the company introduced Discover feature that allows companies to share content on Snapchat, a facility that doesn’t come in many other applications.

Now with the Real Life magazine, Snapchat is considering a new approach when it comes to providing users with content. The social network currently boasts 150 million active users per day, more than Twitter but much less than Facebook.

Snapchat didn’t really provide information on how the digital magazine will be implemented in the application, but it did mention that Real Life already has a website. Most likely, the company will insert a new section inside the Snapchat app. The magazine wasn’t launched yet, it will be available starting June 27 and one original article will be added per day.

Let’s block ads! (Why?)
