Motorola has been definitely keeping itself busy lately with the launch of the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. The company is preparing to unveil a new smartphone, and recent leaks reveal that it might be called the Moto Z.

Renowned leakster Evan Blass has revealed images of the upcoming Motorola device. It’s highly likely that the Moto Droid series will be rebranded as Moto Z, with multiple variants expected to come later this year.

The leaked image suggests that the upcoming Moto Z will be available in three color versions: black, silver, and gold. The image shows the handset from the back, and it reveals the Droid logo below the rear camera, instead of the Moto logo.

The image could show the Moto Z Style Droid Edition or the Moto Z Play Droid Edition, as Verizon Wireless is preparing to launch these two smartphones later this year. Still, they could also represent the Moto Z Style or the Moto Z Play, but that remains to be seen.

MotoMods back covers with camera modules

Evan Blass has also revealed an image depicting the MotoMods, which are replaceable back covers that should go with the upcoming Moto or Droid smartphones. The image shows that one of the back covers comes with a bulky camera module, which should enhance rear camera capabilities for the phone.

The camera module should pack optical zoom and capture high-quality pictures. Still, it’s unclear which devices could be coupled with the back covers.

The MotoMods will probably be sold separately, just like LG G5 modules. Still, they should add value to the smartphone line, whatever it will be called.

At the moment, there’s little information on the upcoming handset or the back covers, but since Lenovo is hosting an event on June 9, more information will surely be provided by that time.
