Parsix GNU/Linux, a live and installation DVD based on the testing packages from the Debian project that’s using GNOME as the desktop, has been upgraded to version 7.5 Test 2 and is ready for download and testing.

The Parsix Linux 7.5 distribution, dubbed Rinaldo, aims to provide a stable experience, and that means integrating packages that were proved to be stable and that have been released for quite some time. This is true for the Linux kernel, the desktop environment, and numerous other packages.

The developers are closing in the final version of the operating system, and it looks like they have managed to decide on what they are going to implement. As it stands right now, the system has been synchronized to Debian Wheezy repositories as of February 20, 2015.

Parxis is based on GNOME 3.14.3

Users who want to have the latest packages and a bleeding edge experience won’t be able to get it with Parxis, but if they look for something stable and tailored to their needs, than Parsix is the solution for them.

“Parsix GNU/Linux 7.5 (code name Rinaldo) brings the latest stable GNOME desktop environment, a new kernel built using our modernized kernel build system, updated installer, a new version of systemd and an upgraded X.Org Server. This version has been synchronized with Debian Wheezy repositories as of February 20, 2015. Thanks to the upgraded X.Org server, there is a noticeable desktop performance improvement,” said the developers on the official website.

According to the changelog, the Linux kernel has been upgraded to version 3.14.36, GNOME Shell 3.14.3 has been implemented by default, Chromium 37.0 is now the default internet browser, and LibreOffice 4.3.3 is now available by default.
