Microsoft has rolled out a new firmware and driver cumulative package targeted at its Surface Book device, namely the May 24, 2016 update, which includes several changes and improvements.
Specifically speaking, this release installs a new Surface Embedded Controller Firmware (88.1171.256.0) to adjust system thermal tuning and optimize battery utilization, as well as the 15.68.9040.67 Marvel AVASTAR Bluetooth and Wireless-AC controller to enhance Wi-Fi settings so that it can support Gulf regions.
In addition to that, Microsoft has managed to apply Surface ME 22.214.171.1246, which improves system stability and increases the reliability of touch and pen capabilities, Surface NVM Express Controller 10.0.4.0 to enhance NVMe Storage stability, and Intel Precise Touch 126.96.36.199 for a better touch stability.
When it comes to installation, upgrading via Windows Update service means that you’ll have to wait for your Surface to receive the present package. Through this service, updates are provided to all customers in stages; thus, you might not receive it right away.
However, if you are anxious to get this release, simply save and unzip the downloadable archive on your Surface unit, and apply all drivers included within. Also, once completed, it would be a good idea to reboot your tablet to ensure all changes take effect properly.
That said,, install it, and check our website as often as possible, as we’ll keep you posted when a newer update is available.
