In a quiet move, LG announced the Stylus 2 Plus today in Taiwan. Alongside the phablet, theand the were also announced in the country. The Stylus 2 Plus is an upgraded version of the Stylus 2 and will go on sale in late June.
On its official, LG posted a press release revealing that it launched the Stylus 2 Plus, as well as the Stylus 2 and LG K8 in Taiwan. It comes with a plastic body with aluminum frame and is available in brown, blue and gray colors.
The phablet comes with some significant improvements, compared to the Stylus 2. It has a 5.7-inch display with Full HD resolution and is powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset. It has an octa-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, twice as powerful compared to the Stylus 2.
In addition to that, Stylus 2 Plus comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Rear camera capacity reaches 16MP, while the front camera has 8MP, the same as the one on the Stylus 2. The rear camera comes with auto-focus features.
Stylus Plus 2 comes with Pen Pop and Pen Keep stylus functions
Stylus 2 Plus measures 155 x 79.6 x 7.4 mm and weighs 146g. The phablet draws power from a 3,000 mAh battery and it supports 4 LTE and has dual-SIM slots. It comes with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box.
The Stylus 2 Plus comes with the same Stylus features that the standard model has, including proprietary functions like Pen Pop. This feature toggles a popup menu when the user removes the stylus, in order to offer shortcuts to other functions like Pop Memo and Pop Scanner.
It also comes with another function called Pen Keep, which displays a message on the phone when the device is in motion and the stylus slot is empty, thus attempting to prevent users from losing the stylus.
The Stylus 2 Plus carries a price of $340 (€304) and will start selling in late June. The Stylus 2 Plus was launched in solely in Taiwan and it’s unclear if and when LG intends to release the phablet to international markets as well.
