Another leak that’s making the rounds today suggests that the iPhone 7 Plus is very likely to be the most exciting version of the new generation, as it’ll sport several exclusive features, including the overly discussed dual camera.
And some new photos published byseem to confirm these reports, as they point to features that are very likely to be available exclusively on the Plus model, and not on the standard 4.7-inch version.
Also coming from China, these schematics seem to indicate that the iPhone 7 Plus will be the only one to get the dual camera system while its smaller brother will continue to be available with a standard camera. Most likely, the 4.7-inch iPhone will get a larger unit, but not a dual configuration, so it’s expected to produce higher-quality shots as compared to the 6s.
Furthermore, rumor has it that the 4.7-inch model will come with OIS, a feature that’s currently available only on the iPhone Plus.
No Smart Connector… for now
Additionally, it seems that the Smart Connector that has often been rumored as a potential iPhone 7 feature is not making the cut, so the new generation will launch without such compatibility. It might be included at some point in the future, possibly on the 2017 model, but for the moment, Apple just wants to stick to the traditional approach.
The Plus could also be the only model receiving a 256 GB storage option, as previous reports have indicated that Apple is trying to expand its lineup with more choices in this regard. The iPhone 7 could thus be offered with 16 GB, 64 GB, and 256 GB, which means not only that Apple will continue to sell the entry-level 16 GB model, but also remove the 128 GB version.
It goes without saying that there’s more to discover in the iPhone 7 lineup, so given the contradictory rumors that have reached the web so far, it’s better not to put your trust into everything pointing to features prepared for the next iPhone.
