An Italian appeals court sentenced former Finmeccanica Chief Executive Giuseppe Orsi to four and a half years in prison on charges of international corruption and falsifying invoices on Thursday, overturning a previous ruling.

The Milan verdict comes as the Italian group seeks to restore a strained relation with India, one of the world’s fastest growing defense markets.

The trial revolves around alleged bribes in a 560 million euro ($635.60 million) contract awarded in 2010 to Finmeccanica unit AgustaWestland to supply 12 helicopters to the Indian government.

Under Italian law a second and final appeal can be requested.
