As mentioned in our, the upcoming GNU/Linux distribution will be based on Canonical’s Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system, which means that it inherits most of its core components and technologies, including the Linux 4.4 LTS kernel, GTK+ 3.18, and Vala 0.32.
Therefore, users will get the native overlay scrollbars feature for all the pre-installed apps, an improved notification system, as well as pretty much the same elementary OS desktop experience that they’ve been used to for many years.
