UPDATE: MetroPCS pinged me to say that it will offer a $70 instant rebate with the Fierce XL, which will leave its price at $69.
Alcatel OneTouch today took the wraps off of the Fierce XL, a phablet that runs Android 5.1.1 on a 5.5-inch 1280×720 display. Alcatel OneTouch is talking up the Fierce XL’s camera features, which include 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras as well as Polaroid photo editing software that can apply filters, borders, and layouts and add tags to images.
Inside of the Fierce XL’s body is a 1.1GHz quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, as well as 16GB of storage and a microSD slot for adding more storage. There’s a 2500mAh battery powering the whole package, and considering the Fierce XL’s modest specs, that juice pack ought to offer some decent battery life.
Alcatel OneTouch also points out that the Fierce XL offers support for LTE bands 2, 4, and 12, as well as features like Wi-Fi Calling and Voice over LTE (VoLTE).
The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will be available on both MetroPCS and T-Mobile. It’ll arrive first on Metro on November 2 for $139, with a launch on T-Mobile coming “later this winter.”
