Albanian hackers have defaced the website of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), two days after the Albanian football team defeated the Romanian football team at the 2016 European Football Championship held in France.

A hacker going by the name of nofawkX-al defaced the FRF website Tuesday afternoon. The hacker left the following message on the FRFwebsite, along with the stylized Albanian flag emblem, the double-headed eagle.

Red And Black I Dress. Eagle On My Chest. Keep My Head Up For The Flag I Die. It’s Good To Be Albanian.

FRF’s IT staff restored the website a few hours later. According to local press, Romanian police took notice of the incident and issued the following statement (translated from Romanian):

Following articles appeared in central media about a possible cyber attack on the website of the Romanian Football Federation, DCCO of the Romanian Police took notice and will conduct research under the accusation of unauthorized access to a computer system and altering data integrity information.

The hacking is twice as painful because following Romania’s 1-0 defeat to Albania, the Romanian team was eliminated from the EURO 2016 tournament.

This was Albania’s first-ever win at an EURO or World Cup football tournament, and following the game, thousands celebrated on the streets of Albanian towns. Following the win, Albanian authorities said the team’s football players will also receive diplomatic passports and will split €1 million in prize money.
